Dear World
From Portrait Photographer to Lead Producer
What started as a photography assignment became years of shared work — shooting the signature words-on-skin portraits, building production teams, hiring staff, and helping produce one of the most distinctive storytelling keynotes in the country.
Dear World was founded by Robert X. Fogarty after Hurricane Katrina — a humanitarian portrait project where participants write a message on their skin and are photographed with those words. The Brain Tattoo methodology has since been practiced with Google, PayPal, Accenture, Harvard, the U.S. Air Force, and thousands of people in between. Taíno Studios entered as the portrait photographer and grew into producing the full keynote: hiring photographers, assembling video teams, sourcing speakers, and managing the shoot floor at events with thousands of participants.
The first time I came in, my job was to execute the Brain Tattoo portrait — the words-on-skin photograph that is, in many ways, the entire product. It is deceptively simple and technically demanding. The light has to carry the text. The expression has to be present. The person in front of the lens has just done something vulnerable, and the photograph has to honor that without over-dramatizing it. You have one chance.
Across multiple engagements, I showed up consistently. The portraits held. The BTS work I was capturing told the story of how the process actually functioned — and that documentation matters beyond the event itself.
As the Executive Producer for our largest event, Robert stands out as a true creative partner. What he delivered on stage was far more than a keynote. It was a shared experience.
Jennifer Bitting · Executive Producer, National Teaching Institute / AACNBy the time I was producing the full keynote, my job had expanded well beyond the camera. I was building the production from the floor up — hiring photographers and photo assistants, assembling video teams, sourcing and briefing keynote speakers. The AACN NTI Conference alone brought 5,000+ critical care nurses — two years into a pandemic that had fundamentally changed what their work meant.
That's what years of trust actually look like in this work: not a bigger title, but a bigger set of problems you're trusted to solve.
