Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia
SBN has spent decades making an argument that deserves to be visible: an economy built around local, independent businesses can serve communities, share wealth, protect the environment, and remain profitable.
Taíno Studios has documented that network across three commissioned events so far. The relationship includes both photography and video, with each format serving the same purpose: showing how SBN’s members gather, exchange ideas, build relationships, and turn shared values into visible action.
SBN Holiday Party
The membership’s annual gathering shows the network in its most personal form. Members reconnect, meet new collaborators, and celebrate the relationships that keep local businesses connected throughout the year. Our video coverage preserved the warmth of the room and the energy created when the network gathers in one place.
Urban Green Symposium
The Urban Green Symposium brought members, experts, and community partners together around sustainable urban business practices and the future of a greener Philadelphia. Our video followed the conversations, speakers, and connections that showed SBN’s environmental mission being shared in real time.
SBN’s 25th Anniversary
The anniversary began with formal recognition from Philadelphia City Council and continued with a press conference at Reading Terminal Market. Our photography documented SBN’s staff, members, community partners, and civic leaders as they celebrated 25 years of supporting independent businesses.
City Council formally recognized SBN for its leadership in advancing a just, green, and thriving local economy and its commitment to independent businesses and communities. We photographed the resolution presentation and the press conference that followed at Reading Terminal Market, preserving the moment 25 years of organizing, advocacy, and community building became part of the city’s official record.
As an SBN member, we understand that the value of a network can be difficult to communicate from the outside. Event documentation gives those relationships a face. It helps current members recognize themselves in the organization while allowing future members to see what becoming part of the network could mean.
