Photojournalism is a different kind of commission. There’s no shot list, no controlled environment, no client art director. You show up, you read the room, and you make decisions in real time about what matters and how to frame it. It’s the work that keeps the eye honest.
Since 2026, Taíno Studios has contributed reporting and photography to Impacto Media, Philadelphia’s leading Spanish-language publication covering the cultural and civic life of the city’s Latino communities. The work runs in print, online, and across social media, reaching Latino readers in both English and Spanish. Creating for these audiences requires more than translating words. It means understanding the history, cultural references, and community context behind each story.
Together, we have built an ongoing editorial partnership that has already documented 17 stories, events, and defining moments across Philadelphia. Every assignment has been reported, written, and photographed by us.
FIFA Fan Festival and Philadelphia Soccer 2026
As Philadelphia welcomed the world, we documented how an international sporting event became a local community experience. Our reporting followed supporters, families, cultural celebrations, and the people creating the atmosphere beyond the field.
Philadelphia Juneteenth Parade and Festival
During America’s 250th anniversary year, Juneteenth offered an essential reflection on independence and the uneven arrival of freedom. The photographs and reporting centered the Black Philadelphians carrying that history forward.
Concilio’s Hispanic Fiesta
Rain did not stop LOVE Park from filling with music, dance, community organizations, and Puerto Rican pride. Our coverage documented public cultural celebration as an expression of belonging in the heart of Philadelphia.
One Philly: Unity Concert for America
Dangerous heat, severe weather, and long delays shaped the city’s July 4 celebration. We documented the scale of the production alongside the people who stayed, adapted, and experienced the night together.
Taller Puertorriqueño
Through arts and cultural programs at Taller Puertorriqueño, we have covered intimate stories about memory, family, identity, and Puerto Rican creative life, where a performance or exhibition can carry generations of meaning.
Civic and Immigration Reporting
Our civic coverage has included the ICE Out City Council hearing and other moments when policy, public testimony, and community action met inside Philadelphia’s institutions.
The resulting journalism has appeared in Impacto’s print newspaper, on its website, and across social media. As the partnership continues, so does the responsibility to document people accurately, provide meaningful context, and preserve moments that might otherwise pass without a record.
